Why choose a Stargazer® dome observatory?
Standard rotation heads in dome observatories require almost constant maintenance. The weight and stress load causes premature failure of the components.
The Stargazer® observatory dome uses a ‘floatation’ system, delivering a reliable, low-maintenance and low-friction bearing. Where the floatation system is not needed, the Stargazer® telescope domes can also be manufactured with a solid GRP azimuthal bearing system.
Stargazer® ‘foam sandwich’ dome system
A ‘foam sandwich’ is built into the structure of the dome. This provides insulation and ensures the inside of the dome observatory is maintained at around the same temperature as the outside environment at sunset. The foam sandwich insulation protects your sensitive equipment from extreme temperatures and delivers a more comfortable user-experience.
If your budget is limited or the foam sandwich insulation is not required, a solid fibreglass dome is also available in the Stargazer® range.
Supply and delivery of Stargazer® observatory domes
When you order a Stargazer® observatory dome, you can choose to have it delivered fully assembled or delivered in kit form for DIY assembly.
If you choose the DIY assembly option, your telescope dome will be delivered as a set of GRP mouldings which you can trim, drill and assemble on-site.
